Round River Conservation Studies is an ecologically oriented research and education organization dedicated to preserving and restoring wilderness. The grant supports the Nakina Center for Aboriginal Learning and Living's efforts to protect the Taku River Tlingit First Nation traditional territory from the mining and roadbuilding plans of Redfern Mines, and to return jurisdiction of the land and its resources to the tribe.

The grant supports the hiring of a coordinator for the Nakina Center for Aboriginal Learning and Living, a First Nation group that seeks to protect the Taku River Tlingit First Nation traditional territory from development.
