Bullitt Environmental Fellowship

The Bullitt Environmental Fellowship is a two-year, $50,000/year fellowship for graduate students interested in pursuing leadership positions within the environmental field.

Through its work on water quality and community safety issues, RE Sources is working to provide leadership, education, and avenues for involvement on pollution and environmental health issues. Through the work of the North Sound Baykeeper, RE Sources will continue to be a voice for marine ecosystem protection and the enforcement of the Clean Water Act. Through participation in local watershed planning efforts, RE Sources will represent environmental concerns in both allocation and restoration debates. These programs combine education and advocacy to create strong models for public involvement.

RE Sources for Sustainable Communities works to educate and engage members of the public, government, business, and nonprofit organizations in local environmental issues. A $30,000 grant supports the organizationÍs water quality work, including groundwater contamination monitoring and kayak pollution patrols, plus additional organizational development and outreach activities. A $5,000 grant supports a SAFE Bellingham citizen campaign to delay the reopening of the Olympic Pipeline until a full investigation of the recent disaster in Bellingham is completed and more stringent safety controls are in place.
