Grant Details: Idaho Community Action Network 2001b
|
Idaho Community Action Network works to build a statewide grassroots organization for low-income Idahoans in order to give them a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. The grant supports a project to reduce contamination caused by an elemental phosphorus mine on the Fort Hall Reservation, the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, and to improve worker safety at this mining and processing operation. The mining operation is run by FMC Corporation and is part of a joint venture under the control of Atsarsis LLC. It employs 500 people and is one of the largest private operations on any Indian reservation in the US. |
