American Lands Alliance is dedicated to the protection and recovery of North American native forest, grassland, and aquatic ecosystems; the preservation of biological diversity; the restoration of watershed integrity; and the promotion of environmental justice in connection with these goals. A $40,000 grant supports a project to promote the permanent protection of the US National Forest wildlands in the Northwest, including roadless areas and old growth forests, through education, halting individual timber sales, and coordinating with local activists. A $10,000 grant supports a project to hire an organizer to facilitate efforts among citizen groups interested in influencing the Northwest Forest Plan SEIS process to adopt a preferred alternative that will end the logging of old growth forests.
